Seasonal Art Instructors Needed - Winter/Spring 2018
August 21, 2017 by Danielle
The Umbrella Community Arts Center is always looking for new course proposals and talented teachers for our seasonal course catalogs. At this time we are planning ahead for the Winter and Spring of 2018. We offer courses, workshops, and special events for the adult, teen, youth and family audiences. Applicants and associated course proposals will be evaluated in comparison to current faculty and course offerings and by potential interest to the constituencies of The Umbrella.
Special interest adult classes at the beginner and intermediate levels are sought after. All traditional art mediums as well as folk and craft arts will be considered. Other areas of interest are in the creative arts and wellness, arts and expressive therapies.
Special interest youth classes are offered afterschool and on weekends. Specifically looking for woodworking. Other areas of interest include digital media and animation/claymation, illustration, and cartooning. The Umbrella also seeks arts integrated STEM programming (science, technology, engineering, and math) for its workshop.
Opportunities exist broadly for family programming as well.
Proposals should be focused and concise. In general, classes are long-term explorations of an art form and/or process giving students an opportunity to both learn and develop skills within one area. Classes can be run in 10, 8, or 6 week increments. Workshops can be from 1-6 hours/day. They should offer an introduction to a subject or technique.
