Unlike traditional studio art classes, Musketaquid educational programs focus on looking outside of the classroom to cultivate an awareness of the natural world. Through exercises in observation, experimentation and invention, participants grow to appreciate nature’s infinite variety of colors, textures, volume and material, and to view it as both a refuge and a source of inspiration. These programs are a wonderful complement to all studio classes, as well as our seasonally themed Wild Walks.

FALL CLASSES

Explorers Program (ages 8-12):  Classes available in Concord and Sudbury

Voices for the Earth Chorus:  This informal, community chorus is looking for new members who can carry a tune – and new leadership! Performances include Winter and Summer Solstices, and Earth Day. Contact Nancy Lippe if interested.

Wild Walks: Led by artists/naturalists, and co-sponsored by the Concord Land Conservation Trust, these seasonal outings explore local conservation lands and teach outdoor and art skills. Some walk themes have included canoeing, orienteering, and tracking.

Workshops and Special Activities: We work with artist/naturalists who are available to teach or lead workshops and special activities on a contract basis. Examples include:

  • A life-size giant white shark wooden floor puzzle as part of the 5th grade science curriculum;
  • A mural for the Acton Community Education spring break program
  • A huge chameleon puppet for Concord Academy’s Green Club
