Kathleen Mayer
Kathleen Mayer studied realistic painting at Tyler School of Art, (MFA) and Mass. College of Art (BFA). Awarded an assistantship while at Tyler, she spent a year in Rome painting, teaching drawing, and studying Italian artwork. She eventually pursued her love of glass by taking classes at Diablo Glass and Metal, and with glass artist Emmanuel Genovese. The summer of 2005 she extensively toured churches and buildings with stained glass throughout England, Ireland, and Scotland. European stained glass windows have served as a source of inspiration for her work. Her work also draws on her training as a painter. Either a direct or indirect reference to nature is often a part of her work. In addition to teaching, her glass work can be found in homes throughout the area and at local exhibitions and fairs.
