From a woven bottom, weavers spiral upward creating a basket that has open space between the rows.  Add the rim and a handle and the basket can be used as hanging storage for onions, garlic, or fruit.  After creating the first small basket to learn the technique, students can choose to weave a different size and style using open weave construction.
